Tell me about your The Beginning!

“We should have met so many times. We even went to the same uni and did similar courses (Dave did TV production and I did journalism) but Dave went to uni a few years after me and we missed each other. I still can't believe we didn't meet. We worked in many of the same places. And then there's the story about the time I went to see the band, The Church. We'll tell you all about it at lunch. But we finally met in 2021. It was post the first COVID lockdown. I'd been in a job I adored at the National Archives and I did NOT want to leave but I had to and I found myself working at a government department I'd worked in once before and swore I would never, ever work there again. I mean I vowed to myself. I even bought myself shoes to remind me! And yet, there I was. After a few weeks questioning my life choices, someone said we had to host a webinar and people were freaking. Finally, someone said 'oh there's actually a TV studio downstairs, talk to the guy who runs it...Dave Scorpecci'. So I rang Dave and said 'Oh, it's Kylie from the DTA here, I hear you have a TV studio'. I could hear him breathe out and he said 'yes, would you like to see it?' Would I ever! We arranged to meet. I remember everything so visually. He walked out of the lift and we started talking and it's like we've never stopped. He took me into his studio and I was just so, so impressed. There were five cameras! And a proper director's suite at the back. Who ever was behind all this clearly knew what they were doing. I even have a video of that first studio tour which I took for my colleagues. I am very fond of muscular forearms and big hands. I swear I didn't even notice Dave's arms and forearms but that video tour suggests I definitely noticed them! The project we worked on was a huge palaver and I offered him his bribe of choice. Apparently that was Barossa Shiraz. So I bought the wine. And then he asked me out for dinner to accompany the wine. And that's when I knew it was on!”

What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day?

“We haven't officially chosen a style or theme but once, after I was ever so slightly stoned, I told Dave that whenever we're alone I imagine us being drawn to this column of golden light. And every time, we just pick up where we left off. So my dress is perfect because if 'goldie light' could be a dress, this would be it!”

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

“ I think seeing Dave's beautiful eyes. Seeing my son all dressed up. Seeing my brother happy.”
